Steven Braverman of Zephyrhills, Florida, writes: Marilyn: I'm writing about poppy seeds causing positive results on drug tests. (December 14, 2008) This happened to my wife a couple of years ago. She enjoys poppy seed bagels and usually has a few over the weekend. On Tuesday one week, she was selected for a random drug test. It came back positive. Making Unappetizing Food Palatable

If you know anything about me, you know that I've never met a food I didn't like. But not everyone's as adventurous.Based on an informal survey of hungry friends, here are four of the all-time top "won't -touch-it, won't-eat-it foods" with tips on how to make them more palatable. (And anything worth this much trouble has to have nutritional merit, like the ones below.)1 Liver. Marinate the meat in balsamic vinegar (some people use milk!) to mellow its flavor. Pan fry with lots of sliced onions and/or mushrooms and/or raisins. Slice the liver into thin strips, serve covered with the veggies and fruit. Yum!2 Peas. (the canned variety). Drain the peas. Saut sliced onions in olive oil in a saucepan. Just before the onions begin to crisp, toss the peas into the saucepan. If you enjoy the peas as much as I know you will, next time toss in some sliced mushrooms, too.3 Cottage cheese. Most veterinarians recommend taking your pet to the vet at least once a year for a wellness exam--whether they live inside or not. If you have senior pets, you should bring them in twice a year.
