At the Coal Association Summit, U.S. Senate candidate John Raese asked one question - three times - of Sen. Joe Manchin: "Mr. Manchin, who are you going to vote for President of the United States?" And, three times Manchin would not answer the question.
John Raese has publicly challenged Manchin's H. B. 103 bill (while Manchin was the state's governor) - legislation which will diminish the use of coal! Coal that is the life's blood of the West Virginia economy.
In the past, we know Manchin voted for Sens. Harry Reid and President Obama. Both Reid and Obama have spoken publicly of their hate for coal. Now I ask you why would any "representative" of West Virginia support and vote for those who hate coal? (Sen. Harry Reid was welcomed to West Virginia - a fundraiser by Joe Manchin and Sen. Rockefeller during the last election.)
As coal supporters at a Coal Association summit, many West Virginians would have wished to speak the following: To ignore and refuse to use an energy resource so abundant as coal is to be shortsighted and self-destructive to the state's economy. Even the nation's economy.
The Lord has blessed our nation with land that abundantly provides us with an array of energy options - each suitable for use in particular circumstances. We have coal, oil and gas, It is hard to believe this nation ever got so foolish as to listen to politicians of prejudice and hate for coal; politicians who tell us to hate our own nation so deeply as to deprive her of the energy resources God gave her.
Politicians would warp our minds and cripple our thinking capacity by goofy doctrines which insist that using the resources of the earth is evil and harmful; that guiding our nation along a path of growth, economic health and prosperity is harmful. This doesn't make sense!
What would make sense is to replace Sen. Manchin and President Obama. John Raese's Greer Industries use coal in their plants. And they use oil and gas. John Raese provides over 1,000 jobs to West Virginians! He needs to be in Washington, D.C. Sen. Manchin needs to retire until Manchin can find his way to the thinking of real West Virginians!
