PARKERSBURG - A progressive concert will be sponsored in July by the Julia-Ann Square Historic Homeowners Association.

Judy Smith, corresponding secretary, said A Mid-Summer's Eve Victorian Stroll - A Progressive Concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. July 10.

Musicians from the American Wind Symphony Orchestra will perform mini concerts at five historic sites beginning at the First United Methodist Church, 1001 Juliana St., Smith said.

"Tour guides in period attire will take guests to the different homes where parlor ensembles will play selections," Smith said. "Three of the mini concerts will be inside and two will be on the lawns."

In case of rain, Smith said the concerts will be moved indoors or will take place in tents.

Smith said those attending the concerts will gather at the church for a 15-minute concert. After the concert they will be divided into groups and will go to different locations. She said the concerts will take place at:

* 1035 Ann St., the home of David and Jayne Chafin

* 1109 Ann St., the home of John and Linda Florence

* 1203 Ann St., the home of Jim and Julie DeKlavon

* 1024 Juliana St., the home of Norm and Judy Smith

Smith said the concerts will be on the porches at the Florence and DeKlavon homes and inside at the other locations.

The cost of the concerts is a donation of $15. Proceeds will be used for improvements to Julia-Ann Square. Smith said light desserts will be served at her house during the tour.

Felice Jorgeson, director of the Smoot Theatre, said there will be two woodwind ensembles, two brass ensembles and one percussion ensemble. Jorgeson said it is not known at this time what selections will be played.
