John Willard Cushing III, 78, of Parkersburg died on Wednesday, May 23, at Parkersburg Care and Rehabilitation.
He was born in Elyria, Ohio to the late John Willard Cushing II and Lillian Thorpe Cushing on Aug. 13, 1933.
John was a veteran of the U.S Army and graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S in Petroleum Engineering. He was former owner of Petroleum Services, Inc., Hydrocarbon Well Logging, and Parkway Center office building. He enjoyed hunting and had an extensive duck decoy and gun collection. He liked to travel with his wife and was an avid Buckeye fan.
He is survived by his wife of nine years, Ann Rodney (Lorentz) Cushing; one daughter, Janet Harwood (William) of Logan, Ohio; one son, James D. Cushing (Duane) of New Albany, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jeremy, Adam (Melissa) and Steven; one sister, Marilyn Barnes of Spokane, Wash., and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Parkersburg Care and Rehabilitation and Amedisys Hospice of Parkersburg for the love, care, and support provided to John.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister; Joanne Colbrunn.
A Gathering of Remembrance will be held at the Leavitt Family Center in Parkersburg on Friday, June 22 from 5-7 p.m.
