Betty Jean Wade, 78, of Parkersburg, departed this life on May, 19, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Nov. 30, 1933, in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late John W. and Carrie (Lyons) Byers.
She was retired after 25 years of service to St. Joseph's Hospital, where she worked in the central processing unit. She was a member of 19th Street Church of God, Parkersburg, and greatly enjoyed WVU football, playing bingo, her flower garden and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Darrell E. Wade Jr. (Janet) of Steubenville, Ohio, and Eric R. Wade (Patsy), Jason Dean Wade (Kristin) and Jeannie Johnson (Howard), all of Parkersburg; sister, Norma Holland, Parkersburg; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Evelyn Springer, Parkersburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Darrell Edward Wade; son, John Wade; brothers, the Rev. Gordon Byers and Paul Byers; and her sisters, Edna McCartney and Geraldine Shears.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, 403 Seventh St., Parkersburg. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, Parkersburg. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
