Sugar Daddy’s big failure

March 25, 2012
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

A recent letter to the editor states West Virginia is leading the nation in providing proper nutrition for children in schools. Wow - how great that another bureaucracy, and it is a bureaucracy, is doing what the parent(s) won't do. The "sugar daddy" is always there to help. It's not enough the kids eat breakfast at school in addition to lunch at taxpayers' expense.

Unfortunately the kids get to eat at home (or McDonald's) the other meals and weekend meals. And from the looks of things the parents are eating at McDonald's three times a day. The kids' role model is their parent (or parents in some cases). I have seen a parent meet the kid as it comes out of the school and hand him a big bottle of pop. This is a kid who is already grossly overweight.

So nice try, "sugar daddy," but you better start hauling the parent(s) in and feeding them properly too, and you'll need to do it seven days a week.
