WVU-P Foundation
PARKERSBURG — One doesn’t have to be a millionaire to be a philanthropist, said Jenny Keup, WVU at Parkersburg foundation director. Endowed and non-endowed funds may be established in the donor’s own name or in memory of or in honor of a loved one. Both types of funds may receive gifts from anyone at anytime and those resources are combined to maximize community benefit, she said. “When you pool that money, the advances in that fund are much more considerable. That’s why you want to invest in a foundation. Our funds have been averaging 13.5 percent. You gain much more money for the community than by doing it yourself,” she said. The foundation, which was founded in 1963, awards more than 110 scholarships annually to West Virginia University at Parkersburg students who demonstrate strong academic performance. The Foundation also provides funds for faculty development, student art awards and other institutional support. During the last fiscal year, gifts received totaled $407,235.
