WVU looks to rebound
MORGANTOWN —With three games, and likely four, remaining in his career at WVU, senior quarterback Patrick White finds himself less than 200 yards away from taking over the top spot in NCAA career quarterback rushing history. The two-time Big East Offensive Player of the Year, who has rushed for 586 yards and four touchdowns on 122 carries this season, enters Saturday’s road game at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium against the University of Louisville (5-5, 1-4 Big East) with 4,092 career yards. Missouri’s Brad Smith, who played for the Tigers from 2002-05, closed out his career with 4,289 yards and 45 touchdowns on 799 rushes. White, who has 43 career rushing touchdowns to his credit, needs to average less than 70 yards per game over his final three starts against the Cards, arch-rival Pitt and South Florida. That average will drop below 50 should the Mountaineers (6-3, 3-1) garner one of the Big East’s holiday bowl berths.
