Parkersburg man arrested over failure to register
PARKERSBURG — A Parkersburg man was arrested Monday by Wood County sheriff’s deputies for allegedly failing to register as a sex offender when he moved there from Washington County in May. Larry J. Freeland, 36, was arrested on a fugitive from justice warrant as a result of charges filed by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, according to a joint release from both sheriff’s departments. The release says Washington County deputies notified their Wood County counterparts of a possible address for the suspect. Investigation by Wood County deputies led to the Homecrest Apartments in south Parkersburg, and a witness informed investigators that Freeland had left that location a short time before law enforcement arrived, the release says. Deputies located a contact number for a friend of Freeland’s and eventually got Freeland on the telephone. While a deputy spoke to him, other officers responded to the Burger King on 1900 Pike St.
