Pastor’s action saves life
Pastor Larry Dale of Baptist Temple deserves the community’s praise for his efforts that brought a 78-year-old motorist back to life after she was involved in a serious auto accident in Parkersburg City Park. Naomi Gilmore lost control of her vehicle on 19th Street, drove off the street, into the church parking lot, struck a car, continued across Park Avenue into City Park where it hit a retaining wall and flipped onto its top, according to police. Dale heard the commotion and went to the motorist’s aid, freeing her from her vehicle and immediately started CPR on the non-breathing woman, according to police. “I began chest compressions and checked for a pulse, and then all of a sudden she gasped for air and took in a deep breath. Her eyes opened slightly, but her breathing was still very labored,” Dale told The News and Sentinel. The motorist was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital and transferred to Charleston Area Medical Center, where she initially was listed in critical condition.
