"Leaving Whiskey Bend" by Dorothy Garlock

Three women find romance as they flee their Wild West town in Dorothy Garlock's historical romance, "Leaving Whiskey Bend."

Quiet Hallie is fleeing her past with firecracker friend Pearl when they find another friend of theirs, Mary, being abused by her stepbrother. They help her escape with a well-aimed shot by Pearl, and leave the town of Whiskey Bend behind them. But a terrible storm sidetracks them and leaves Mary injured. The women are helped by rancher Eli Morgan, who has just returned home himself after the war who has his own problems. He has just returned home to find his father dead, his older brother, Abe, mentally ill and his mother blaming him for everything. Eli rescues the women and offers them a place to stay while Mary recovers, despite his mother's protests. Even has she cares for her friend, Hallie fears Mary's stepbrother is not too far behind them. But the more time she spends with Eli, the more she feels drawn to him - something that not only brings harsh words from his mother, but also a local banker's daugther who has her sights set on Eli. And hardened Pearl may be finding a romance all of her own. Even as Mary recovers and begins a shy relationship with Abe Morgan, the past comes back for her and it will take all of her friends to save her again.

A warm tale of love and life in the Wild West, this book will be a great read for historical romance fans and fans of New York Times bestselling Garlock.

"Leaving Whiskey Bend" is published by Grand Centeral Publishing. It is $6.99 and is 323 pages long. Look for Garlock's next book, "The Moon Looked Down" in stores in July.
