| | Some days you just can't win!August 28, 2012 - Jim SmithLast weekend we went to Washington, D.C., to see our 10-month-old grandsons and spend a long weekend visiting and helping our daughter and her husband to give them a break for a couple of days. As we usually do when we leave town, I had The News and Sentinel hold our newspapers in a vacation pack to be delivered the morning after our return. The U.S. Post Office was asked via its website to hold our mail delivery for the same period. Thumbs up to The News and Sentinel and a thumbs down to the postal service. No newspapers were at our doorstep when we returned home, but what appeared to be several days worth of mail was jammed into our mailbox. Hmmmm! Maybe the postal service needs to check its website as its carriers are sludging through rain and snow and the darkest of nights, etc. I know the postal service is feeling the pinch from email and electronically delivery bills and other items that formerly were mailed, but that doesn't mean it should ignore the service requests made on its own website.
