Voters' Guide in April 24 edition

Early voting begins April 25 for the West Virginia primary election which actually is May 8.

To better inform voters about who is running for the various political offices, The News and Sentinel will publish candidate profiles in the Sunday, April 22, edition, and on April 24 the League of Women Voters, in partnership with the newspaper, will present its Voters Guide.

For several years the League and the newspaper have joined forces to present candidate information for primary elections and general elections in West Virginia.

The League asks the same questions of each candidate and the responses are published just as they were received, including with any spelling, grammar or content errors. Candidates in unopposed races were not queried and those in contested races were limited to 50-word responses.

The Voters' Guide includes the races for U.S. Senate; 1st District and 2nd District U.S. House of Representatives; Governor; Secretary of State; Auditor; Treasurer; Commission of Agriculture; Attorney General; Supreme Court; Senate (3rd District), 8th, 9th and 10th District House of Delegates; Wood County Commission; Wood County Assessor; Wood County Prosecutor; Wood County Sheriff; Wood County Magistrate; Wood County Surveyor; Conservation District Supervisor; Wood County Board of Education; Parkersburg Mayor; District 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 Parkersburg City Council; Williamstown Mayor; and Williamstown City Council. The guide also includes information on the Mass Transit Levy.

The News and Sentinel also will be publishing information on Sunday about contested races.
